Lisa Nuryanti is a female instructor that specializes in Profession and Personality Development. She provides advice and motivation for people who have troubles in various fields—such as leadership, management, self-presentation, problem solving and decision making, conflict management, as well as interpersonal communication and marketing. The main goal of her job is to give suggestions on way of life, way of thinking and way of behaving, also to help the clients to understand themselves better. 

 

At first I knew Lisa Nuryanti from the internet. I learned that Lisa frequently gives training programs to Dharma Wanita Persatuan (Indonesian women's organization in which members consist of wives of civil servants). 

 

The topics often presented in those trainings among others are "Being an Excellent Woman" or "To Be the Best", and still others about ethics and personality development. Through these programs, Dharma Wanita members are expected to transform themselves into an excellent women—in accordance with the ethical and personality traits that are considered important. So that they could become role models wherever they are, as well as giving positive impacts to their surroundings. It is believed that to achieve success in both personal and organizational life, it takes a positive mindset, creativity, independence and unyielding attitude.

 

Trying to grasp this phenomenon, I conduct a participatory observation by making myself a "consumer". I decide to join a session with Lisa Nuryanti where I let myself being "motivated" and "coached" by this instructor.
